Harris Nature Center - Meridian Township

I spent some time walking around Harris Nature Center today. The weather has turned cold, so most of the animals are not very active. The squirrels and the birds seem to stay active all year. I did not get any good photos of squirrels. They were too shy. However, I did get some other photos. Here they are.

Birds

Picture
This downy woodpecker was on the other side of the river.
Picture
A red bellied woodpecker keeping an eye on me.
Picture
This could be the same woodpecker, but it was a lot closer.
Picture
I think this is the same woodpecker in a different tree.

Fungi

Picture
The fungus that grows on wood is fascinating. At first, I thought this was snow or frost.
Picture
This dead tree supports a variety of life.
Picture
These fungi looked almost like butterflies.
Picture
This shelf fungus was beautiful in the sunlight.
Picture
This fungus made the tree look like it had lips.

Water

A reflection of what is on the other side of the river.
Picture
These rocks just below the surface made the water ripple in intricate patterns.
Thanks for taking a look,
Rob
